READINGS OF NEW WORKS ABOUT BODIES, BONDS AND BEGINNINGS.
Queenie Bon Bon is a writer, performance artist and sex worker living and working in Narrm/Birrarung, the Boon Wurrung and Woiwurrung names for Port Phillip Bay, the Yarra River and the area of Melbourne.
Queenie Bon Bon's work focuses on labour and the body. They have created four full length shows, which have toured in Australia, Europe and North America. They are a regular at the Hare Hole and will be returning later in the year for the Generations Festival, an event that celebrates the significant work of the venue over 30 years and thanks the many important artists like Queenie Bon Bon who have developed their work and craft here.
Queenie Bon Bon's written and visual work has been featured in locanto, backpage and in Maximum Rock and Roll and The Lifted Brow. They are a member of the Australian sex worker art collective Debby Doesn't Do It For Free. In 2020 they were the winning recipient of Firstdraft’s Writers Program and was runner up for the title of the WOTYs (Whore of the Year) for their significant and effective sex work activism.
This show has ADULT CONCEPTS; STRONG LANGUAGE; and SEXUAL ACTS DESCRIBED. The show is simultaneously live streamed to audiences online. Following these shows, a chill-out room at the back of the venue will host a small gathering for conversation and listening to the music of DJ HIP HOP HOE.
