This exhibition jointly showcases the artwork and photography of Gina Baines and Paul Colcheedas.
Gina is a self-taught pastels artist from the Upper Yarra Valley.

She enjoys immersing in nature and drawing inspiration from her travels.

This exhibition was inspired by her 6-month trip in 2019 with her husband Dan, to explore the Northwest of Australia – following her 25-year dream of seeing Purnululu in real life. Gina first travelled Australia as a freshly-licensed girl back in 1981 – something which sparked a life-long interest in experiencing the unique changes in scenery, nature, cultures and lifestyle from place to place – in particular our ancient indigenous heritage.

Gina hopes these images, along with the stunning photography of Paul Colcheedas, will bring you a little warmth in our southern winter.

Paul has been a keen nature photographer for many years with a special affinity for birdlife and flowers. He was able to fully indulge in this recently on a 2 ½ year journey travelling Australia with his wife, Sonia.

The Karijini National Park and the Kimberley region were a particular favourite for him with their stunning contrasts in landscape, exquisite wildflowers, and their majestic boabs, each with their unique presence and form.

Join Gina and Paul at their launch on Saturday 3 July, 1-3pm at the Waterwheel Gallery in the Waterwheel Centre.
