Children will be given the unique opportunity to escape to a surreal desert island with this latest interactive exhibition from ArtPlay.

Joining forces with Playable Streets, an innovative digital arts company which creates artwork that uses technology to create human connection in public spaces, young artists can explore enchanting islands of sound that are activated by simply walking, crawling or rolling across the floor.

The Islands experience offers an opportunity to experiment with light, sound and collective musical play with new-found friends.

Playable Streets Artistic Director Glen Walton said the exhibition is unlike a lot of art, in that it’s immersive for children to touch and explore.

“It is always changing as you move as well as through some pretty awesome technology. The soundtrack that swirls around the space is created using a sophisticated system that turns real-time ocean data from Bells Beach into music.

“This exhibition celebrates the artwork of children, the mysteries of the ocean and collaborative music making.”
