TMO1

The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) led by dynamic Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams returns to Petersham Town Hall for a night filled with both incredibly energised and intimate music. Come and experience an exceptional performance which will not only spotlight outstanding scores, but showcase the virtuosity, depth and dazzling musicianship of TMO’s incredible string section in this Electrifying concert. The evening will start at a frenetic pace with Edward Elgar’s masterful Introduction and Allegro which was designed to show off the players’ expertise before TMO welcome brilliant violinist Maria Lindsay to the stage for Tommy Tycho’s hauntingly beautiful Violin Concerto. The melancholy Chrysanthemums from Puccini is an exceptional example of his writing for string orchestra and presents a perfectly sombre prelude to the final work of the night, and a chance for the audience to catch their breath before the powerful evening of music climbs to a chilling pinnacle with Bernard Hermann’s Psycho Narrative for String Orchestra. This impassioned musical narrative closely follows the story of the original Psycho film from the leading lady’s impulsive theft, her subsequent murder, Norman’s disposal of her body through to his capture and incarceration, where in a cell he chillingly assures us in a final voice-over that he “wouldn’t hurt a fly.” Much like the original thriller, this final piece will deliver a chilling finale that will send electrical shivers down audience spines and leave everyone absolutely invigorated. What a way to finish!
