About the artists
Mirko Guerrini is a multi-instrumentalist and eclectic composer and arranger. His move from Italy to Melbourne has seen collaboration with some of the country’s most outstanding musicians, birthing the Mirko Guerrini Horizontal Quartet with Tamara Murphy, Andrea Keller and Niko Schäuble.
Bassist Tamara Murphy is known for her dynamic approach and heavy groove. Niko Schäuble is an award-winning drummer, known for his incredible flexibility, knowledge and effortless interplay. Andrea Keller is one of Australia’s most regarded pianists, renowned for intelligent melodic development and purity of sound.
About the concert
With a focus on horizontal melody, the groups' original music treats each player as a single voice part of a broader polyphonic ensemble. Harmonic streams are forged by the horizontal movement of voices, bolstered by a close synergy between each member.
