Hope is part of a double-program featuring jazz and classical ARIA-nominated Pianist Nat Bartsch. This evening program is a neo-romantic meditation on the compounding impact of the Black Summer bushfires and COVID-19. Bartsch’s writing was at first an exercise in inspiring hope, however, the events of 2020 soon brought on a sense of hopelessness. The music speaks to the universal experience of living through these times, ebbing between hopefulness and hopelessness.
Her performance with Music in The Sky will blend atmospheric composition, florid melodic embellishments and ambient electronics. Joined by Apex Quartet, a dynamic collective charismatic group of young classical musicians, this performance is a beautiful suite of chamber music pieces for piano, string quartet and electronics.
