If it’s nice, play it twice.

Some words to live by, that are wholly appropriate when faced with the very enjoyable task of hosting Soichi Terada's Sydney encore. You’ve got him on the main stage for NYE stroke of midnight, but come January 7 we’re going deep into our favourite basement for a very intimate live show and a special bonus round with the smiliest man in house music.

One of electronic music’s most charming individuals, Soichi is known for his life-affirming sets, featuring everything from dancing onstage to making origami while he’s Djing. The Tokyo-born artist came to prominence in the early '90s via his vibrant, atmospheric, and emotive take on house music, after first gaining notoriety when Larry Levan remixed his production ‘Sun Showers’ in the 80s. But, it wasn’t until 2015 that he came back onto the scene after Hunee selected his music for Rush Hour’s Sounds from the Far East compilation.

With the release of Asakusa Light, his first album in 25 years, released on December 12, the timing of his tour couldn’t be more perfect. Powered by groove and melody, the record features 11 effortlessly feel-good tracks that are the aural equivalent of a dopamine rush at sunrise.

After well over 30 years in house music, the light in Soichi’s heart is shining brighter than ever and we can’t wait to hear what he has in store for us.

Joining Soichi are Picnic’s Kali, deep digging brothers Mike Who + Daniel Lupica and up and comers Posture + Hyfe in fine b2b style.
