Jackie Bornstein

‘An enchanting vocalist and captivating storyteller.’ Australian Jazz

Jackie Bornstein is one of Melbourne’s most captivating jazz, chanson and bossa nova singers, known for her rich tones and ability to get to the heart of a tune. Jackie’s performances champion music from across the globe, sharing timeless stories from diverse cultures.

Jackie returns to Primrose Potter Salon to share the music and stories of some of her favourite Jewish composers and lyricists. From the Yemenite tones of Ofra Haza’s Love Song (Song of Songs) to the show tunes of Irving Berlin and Jackie’s own originals, the repertoire follows Jackie’s journey through musical genres including Yiddish theatre song, pop, jazz, bossa nova and chanson.

Featuring works by Leonard Bernstein, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Keren Ann, Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields, Carol King, Georges Moustaki and Jackie Bornstein herself, this charming performance is not to be missed.

With a beautiful line up including the captivating Jackie Bornstein (voice), exquisite Yael Zamir (flute), exciting, James Sherlock (guitar), world-class Mark Fitzgibbon (piano) and hard swinging Philip Rex (bass).
