The Sculpture Garden

We all have secrets! That is certainly true for the resident potters and sculptors from Buderim's Craft Cottage.

As a celebration of their 25th Sculpture Garden exhibition, you are warmly invited to unearth some creative secrets as you embark on a journey of discovery with the artists through their latest creations.

Each year since 1997, the artists have drawn from a collective well of knowledge, skills, and inspiration to create their individual pieces for the exhibition. Only after deliberating on combinations of building, glazing, and firing techniques can they begin to transform their humble clay into works from the heart. The exhibition brings these pieces together, with each one capturing the uniqueness and inner beauty of its creator.

Deidre Phipps, the group's leader, is a wonderful example of this process. Beginning her own journey 20 years ago after attending a casual workshop, her passion for clay was ignited and continues to burn brightly. She credits this to the generosity of many artists by saying “They allowed me to absorb techniques, to test and explore my boundaries, then push and pull at my creativity until it was completely liberated”. This inspiration has resulted in stunning pieces, including those affectionately referred to as her ‘laughing girls’. They will join beautiful works from all of the resident artists, who openly welcome discussion with visitors.

This is truly a unique opportunity to indulge your artistic curiosity, support a talented local artist, and find a special treasure while visiting the 2022 Sculpture Garden exhibition. Complete the day with a visit to one of the many local eateries, take in the breathtaking views and remember Buderim in October.

Entry is free and all works are for sale.
