West Set + Finding Figaro Present:
Chee Shimizu (JPN)
From the suburbs of Tokyo, Chee Shimizu runs his online record store Organic Music. With no set genres, it’s all about sharing good music. At one point, records filled his entire apartment, but these days he prefers to share all his finds with his customers. An authority on obscure — particularly Japanese — records, Chee is sought after as a DJ and producer, often under the Discosession moniker, which was also the name of a party he ran with friends that introduced Italo and cosmic disco as a new movement to the Japanese dance floor.
DJ NETT
Inarguably one of Australia’s biggest house luminaries, Melbourne native Janette Pitruzzello aka DJ JNETT has been spinning records and creating heat in Melbourne’s music industry since the early 90s. Having previously presented ABC’s legendary live & dance music TV show Recovery, DJ DJNETT has since played a significant role in influencing and inspiring her community through local media; a consistency which has spanned throughout her career. JNETT’s boundless crates of wax & supreme turntable technique spans seamlessly throughout deep house, techno, funk, soul, disco, dub, reggae and hip hop which has won over infinite types of audiences.
Colette
One of the city's most enduring performers, Colette has been a mainstay in many of the cities booths for years. Always packing a bag of discs to tickle ears in any situation and a big smile, it's no wonder Colette has effortlessly become one of the scene's favourite faces.
POOKIE (LIVE)
No stranger to the Scray, POOKIE has been a leading voice of the local community of buzzing diaspora of Black creatives who are also celebrating their own narratives and unapologetically taking up space. With flair, wit and an immense presence while performing, POOKIE blends the best of Afro-Jazz, Hip Hop and electronic influences for a powerful, not to be missed live show.
DIIMPA (LIVE)
Eclectic and esoteric, Diimpa is an avant-garde composer, soundscape weaver and sonic wizard. He is a proud mixed Kabi Kabi autistic queer man who works with keyboard instruments like analogue synthesisers, music box, glockenspiel or accordion to create worlds of effortless magic and sound journey.
The City of Maribyrnong acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation and pay our respect to their Elders, past and present.
