Jackie Bornstein is one of Melbourne’s most captivating jazz, chanson and bossa nova singers, known for her rich tones and ability to get to the heart of a tune. Jackie’s performances champion the music and stories of great female jazz composers, revealing hidden chapters of history to the delight of modern listeners.

Marking the release of her album 'Women in Jazz: An Invitation to Freedom', this concert will celebrate the moving songs of remarkable women in jazz. Together with her exceptional band of rising and esteemed jazz artists,

Jackie will share a selection of swing, bossa nova and poetry-driven songs by female composers from across the globe.

From the swinging 'Pick Yourself Up', to the emotive 'Don't Explain', the concert program will feature diverse composers including Peggy Lee, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf, Dolores Duran, Consuelo Velazquez, Maria Grever, Dorothy Fields, Jackie Bornstein and more.

Jackie was awarded a City of Melbourne Arts Grant for her project 'Women in Jazz: An Invitation to Freedom' which supported the development of the album and a book on Australian Women in Jazz due for release in 2023.
