Halo Vocal Ensemble Mid-Year Showcase

HALO Vocal Ensemble return for a highly anticipated live at Kindred Band Room on Friday 7 July.

The collaborative ensemble, directed by vocal powerhouse Liona Tatafu, will bring together some of Melbourne's leading singers, musicians and DJ MzRizk, performing reimagined arrangements of modern RnB, Soul, Jazz, Gospel, House, and Hip Hop!

Always providing a platform for the best vocalists on the scene and the newest generation of voices to shine, Halo Vocal Academy will make its debut performance alongside HALO, and Jaydean will be warming up the audience with his rich brand of R&B and soul.

HALO Vocal Ensemble features a diverse line-up of artists from different communities across Melbourne, together putting a modern spin on the definition of choir to bring a new sound to the masses; each ethereal harmony, combined energy, and awe-inspiring vocal gymnastics, creating an unmissable and immersive experience.

The ensemble features a rotating lineup of vocalists, each established as a solo artist in their own right. This Mid Year's showcase will feature future soul artist Emma Volard, songwriter Ally Eley, Canadian creator Meiwa with her blend of R&B folk, the angelic voice of SKŸE, and soul-soaked singer Tyra Lewis, led by choir director Liona Tatafu.

With sold-out shows at notable events like Melbourne Music Week x Melbourne Museum Summer Plaza Series in January 2021 and Melbourne International Jazz Festival in 2021, it is no wonder audiences have fallen in love with HALO Vocal Ensemble and their remarkable energy. The dynamic collective has seen stages at events across Naarm including MOOMBA, Christmas Choirs at Federation Square, Hume Winter Lights Festival, Megamix at Hamer Hall with Baker Boy, 24 Festival, Darebin Community Awards, Vic Health Promotion Awards, and Molly Hadfield Social Justice Oration, and performing reimagined arrangements from the Sister Act Songbook with a live band, paying tribute to Sister Act I and Sister Act II: Back In The Habit.
Centred around collaboration and community, 2022 saw HALO Vocal Ensemble present two solo shows "Live at The Night Cat", bringing together over 30 artists on stage for a harmony filled spectacular.

Expect to be blown away by Melbourne's greatest voices, and the newest generation of voices for this winter night in the west. It has been a while between Halo shows and this is not one to miss!

Kindred would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land that this event is to be held on, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging. Always was, always will be.

This venue is wheelchair accessible.
