On Loan

On Loan is Ebony Blackley’s latest body of work which invites audiences to engage and interact with art ideas and collaborative values in a commercial gallery setting. The artist continues her process of letting go of the final outcome of each artwork as she builds visual landscapes one moment at a time, intuitively applying her varied range of skills and techniques. All the arrangements have been made for visitors of this exhibition to loan what they see to others. A unique guestbook experience using library book pockets, catalogue cards, scanning techniques, labels, stickers and stamps gives visitors a chance to describe what they see in Blackley’s abstractions and then loan their visions out. Similar to looking and seeing shapes in clouds, the artist asks everyone, "What do you see?" There is space to discover and creative ways to document an open source attitude towards perception.
