Strange 2023

Prepare to be captivated by the unusual as the highly anticipated Strange Festival returns to Perth City from June 16 to 25 to transform Boorloo into a wonderland of eccentrically marvellous installations, exhibitions, and performances. Building on the success of its inaugural edition, Strange ‘23 will push boundaries and challenge perceptions, featuring over thirty visual artists in a free-to-see art trail across vacant spaces in Carillon, London Court, Hay Street Mall, Forrest Chase, Raine Square, 'Liberty' Basement, and Pooles Temple at the State Buildings.

New additions and highlights include a giant Yagan Square video installation, where a custom-erected screen will premiere an animated short film based on the stage play Bindjareb Pinjarra, reimagined as a cartoon by local Indigenous artists. Exhumed Cinema at Liberty Theatre is a ticketed pop-up revival cinema (June 20 to July 2) showcasing a collection of thirty-five cult and classic films exclusively in 35mm and 16mm format, celebrating the power of celluloid and the rebirth of a CBD landmark.
