Musicians practicing in 4 rich traditions - Indian, Iranian, Indonesian and Italian - Misagh Zamani, Rosa Voto, Vinod Prasanna and Ria Soemardjo present the outcome of their collaboration as part of "The Music Between" which explores how various musical traditions in Australia evolve and transform as they come into contact with each other. It focused on how the original practitioners and their listeners change as they cultivate new Australian musical landscapes.

On the 26th of May, Misagh Zamani will team up with Ria Soemardjo, Vinod Prasanna and Rosa Voto to present the outcome of their collaboration they have been working on for the last few weeks.

Four brilliant artists exploring the ineffable connection between their traditions, four adventurous creative spirits discovering “the music between” and showing what’s possible in this space when the conversation is flowing, and when everyone is open to playing and sharing.
This collaboration is led by the brilliant Misagh Zamani. A virtuoso pianist Misagh plays 16 instruments, from classical such as piano, guitar and clarinet to traditional daf, setar, oud and duduk to name a few. Since arriving in Australia from Iran in 2013 as a refugee he has been looking for a way to share his music with broader society.

“I want my music to be the voice of abandoned cultures, buried histories, and forgotten arts. My goal is to bring oneness and unity between all sounds and instruments, to produce a unique music that sounds familiar to all international listeners.” - Misagh Zamani
