Ticket sales for The Living End and Missy Higgins have gone through the roof. Sixty per cent of TLE’s tickets for their Retrospective Tour went in pre-sales three weeks ago.
In hometown Melbourne they set a new record at the Corner Hotel: they’ll play nine sold out shows, beating the previous record of five each for Washington and Matt Corby.
Their management Crucial Music says fans are coming from as far away as Ukraine, France, Russia, UK and USA. One French fan bought a ticket for each of the Sydney shows, also splurging out for flight and hotel. “Best €8000 (A$9452.70) I ever spent!”
Missy Higgins who kicks off a US tour this week is also seeing strong traffic for her The Razzle Dazzle Summer Tour. At last count, a third and final Sydney show was added for November 22 at the State Theatre and a second Melbourne show on December 5 at the Palais Theatre.
This week the album is expected to hit 70,000 sales and go Platinum (it’s still Top 10 three months after release) while the single Everyone’s Waiting is Gold and in the Top 25.
