Cockatoo Island Film Festival releases massive program

The inaugural Cockatoo Island Film Festival has released its program of films that will be screen on the Sydney Harbour island between 24 and 28 October.

The program is an exhaustive collection of over 70 feature films and 130 shorts, and include Australian and international fare, drama, comedy, documentary and many other genres.

There will also be a competition for best feature film, in which 25 entries will be taking part, as well as non film fun with Matt Corby and Arrested Developing playing live concerts at a gigantic 3000 capacity venue, a nightclub that opens until 3am, a picnic day with a yacht race and pop-up restaurants and bars.

We're looking forward to seeing the adaptation of Stephen Chbosky's novel, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, an insight into the real life experience of when the Arab Spring erupted in Cairo in the documentary, 1/2 Revolution, ex-hobbit Elijah Wood's indie acting chops (remember Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?) in Maniac and how train systems operate around the world 'cause we're nerds with Trains of Thought.

Also looking good are animations Dinotasia and A Monster In Paris, Fat Pizza's Housos vs Authority and writer/director Cate Sutherland's long awaited runner up to Somersault, Lore.

Check out the website to see other pieces of cinema on offer and be part of film festival history by getting down to Cockatoo Island for its first year of Cockatoo Island Film Festival.
