Our Members
The Albany Surf Life Saving Club has more than 496 members who range in age from 5 to 60+ years. Members enjoy surf sports competition most Sundays at Middleton Beach from November through to April each year. Surf Sport activities include beach sprints, flags, swim, board, surf boat rowing and other water events.

Members also have the opportunity to participate in regional, state and national titles and mid-week training sessions at Middleton Beach.

We have approximately 145 active patrol members. Find out more about our Patrol here.

Being a member also provides individuals with the opportunity to build teamwork skills, enhance your network of friends, learn lifesaving skills, get physically fit and provide a vital job to the community.

In addition to the skilled male and female surf lifesavers, the club also needs members who can provide coaching, support, act as officials, assessors and in administration. There is something for everyone to either learn, teach or develop!

History
The Albany Surf Life Saving Club started as the Naval & Military Sea Bathing Club in 1917 and have been a part of the Albany community for many years that included a street march in the 1950’s down Albany’s main street (York Street) every year to celebrate the start of summer.

Our members have been attaining their Bronze Medallions for a long period of time as shown below.

Bronze Medallions were also awarded to members in the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s and still continues today.
