3MBS Fine Music Melbourne celebrates one of the world's most recognised and influential classical music composers, Ludwig van Beethoven's 250th birthday at the 2020 Beethoven Marathon event.

This all-day event, curated by Artistic Director Chris Howlett, returns to the Melbourne Recital Centre on Sunday 23 February 2020 and will feature performances by many of Australia’s finest classical musicians.

Each of the six concerts will begin with a reading from Beethoven’s private letters to his closest confidants. These letters reflect the emotional and physical struggles which inspired Beethoven’s iconic masterpieces, allowing us to discover the man behind the music.

Program highlights will include the Mass in C Major, An die ferne Geliebte Op. 98 performed by Ian Munro (piano) and Robert Macfarlane (tenor) and the Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67 performed by Corpus Medicorum and conducted by Michael Dahlenburg.

Purchase your tickets through Melbourne Recital Centre's website or call the box office at 03 9699 3333.
