'Consumption of a household, a pie chart' (2021) is a new work exploring mira’s formative childhood memories of spending time on her grandparents farm, consuming and reproducing fraught stories of labour and landscape which serve the colony. Grappling with these personal memories, the work uses text, performance and humour to destabilise dominant australian narratives.
Mira Oosterweghel is a queer artist of settler background, living on the stolen land of the Wurundjeri people where this work was made. Sovereignty was never ceded.
