Midsumma Festival

Join neuro-divergent queer First Nations avant-composer Diimpa with small ensemble on a spiritual, historical, and cultural trip as he explores his past, present, and future.

Diimpa’s rich sound world draws from their experience living as a queer, autistic, Kabi Kabi man, and musically inspired by songlines, ‘70s minimalists, and all things spectral. Let them take you on a sonic journey, all the while decolonising the Bluestone Church Arts Space in Footscray.

In 'Tall Branches' Diimpa will be confronting the stories of a conflicting family history. One with a stolen great-grandmother, made to forget all past, breaking a culture bond thousands of years old. Another with a coloniser family who set up a sugar cane plantation and took part in the blackbirding.

Join sonic wizard Diimpa as they weave through stages of healing, joy and anger with dreamlike spectral sound.
