Promiscuous/cities is a highly energising piece of writing for a large cast, with diverse young voices speaking with rhythmic drive and poetic force. Philpott has again found a new form for this play, with language that crackles to life with the multiple voices overlapping and interweaving in new and exciting ways. That the work focuses on young people is thrilling; they too are often left out of the mainstage picture, but Philpott and Campbell come from a background of working with young people (both formally trained as teachers) and both respect and thoroughly enjoy the viewpoints and energies they bring.

promiscuous/cities provides multiple lenses on the experience of living in a major city: migration to it, displacement from it, homelessness, gentrification, loneliness, community and the loss of place. Significantly, promiscuous/cities looks at our relationship with new technologies, in particular how social media has re-wired our ways of connecting.
