Bill Bailey – Earl of Whimsy

Two years after his sell-out 'Larks in Transit' tour, the UK’s very own straggle-haired polymath Bill Bailey is set to hit Australian roads this October and November. Bringing his new comedy and music extravaganza 'Earl of Whimsy', Bill will be performing in Perth, Darwin, Cairns, Townsville, Toowoomba, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Mackay, Rockhampton, Melbourne, Geelong, Wollongong, Canberra, Hobart, Launceston, Adelaide, Newcastle, Circular Quay and Sydney.

Before embarking on the Aussie tour, he will first be winding up a series of NZ shows from September until the first day of October. He'll be entertaining fans in Dunedin, Christchurch, Mt Maunganui, Hamilton, New Plymouth, Auckland and Wellington.

The mammoth jaunt will see Bill’s trademark blend of satire and surrealism, stories and dismantled jokes, crowd sing-alongs, weird instruments and musical showstoppers. In addition, the show also features a distinctly historical aspect. With its tales of Britain’s fortunes past and present, of ancient Viking battles, of Shakespeare’s contribution to comedy, and Bill’s own ancestry, this is both a mockery and a celebration of national identity.

Here’s a recent round-up of how Bill is described: "a martial arts master in mufti", "the Jedi Knight of juxtaposition" or even "our foremost comedy rock goblin" or is he, as Bill describes himself in his own words, an "Earl of Whimsy"? Whatever his title, this might be his cleverest, daftest, most eccentric show yet.

"Scales the peaks of sublime silliness…this is a foray into Bailey’s magpie mind…a delightful place to spend time.” - Lumino Magazine
