This one-man tragicomeic storytelling is presented by Liverpool Poetry Slam champion Hideto Ambiguous.

Partially based on his own experiences as the cultural other in past years, he explores the dark truth of globalization and a possibility for an alternative future in this interdisciplinary performance where he combines techniques from Dark Clown, spoken word poetry, multi-characters acting to striptease(!).

Benjamin, an ex-exploited undocumented migrant and now a storyteller, narrates you through his worst imaginable and yet most transformative day in life. As a less-than-minimum-wage worker at a performance venue, his life was a deadly repetition without joy. One day when all his colleagues went on strike against the stingy boss, he was left alone at work and forced to keep entertaining the audience til that night’s performer’s arrival. Just when Benjamin’s already long-ago worn-out pride and life-long accumulated humiliation were about to exceed his existential limit, the enlightened, travelling Bard finally arrived. And it was through the Bard’s provocative and inspiring spoken word poetry performance and workshop that prompted Benjamin’s misery to begin to unfold...

This performance is generously supported by Ralph Mclean Microgrants, and dedicated to all fellow (im)migrants, laborers, artists and everyday dissidents.

Warning: Contains some nudity, mild coarse language, high level of audience participation

"His poetry is lovely and soul-baring, flirting with the edges of provocation...It’s a story of finding that confidence and breaking the chains of oppression and expectation, and the humdrum of life." - theatreview
