Aeso Studio

Aeso Studio is a boutique, multi-arts venue on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, housing a small performance, exhibition and development space, accommodating intimate live music events, art exhibitions and theatre productions, as well as being available for workshops and rehearsals.

Aeso Studio presents a year-round program and encourages a diversity of artforms including experimental music, visual art, installations and screenings, readings and spoken word, intimate theatre and performance-based work.

Aeso Bar is the cozy kitchen of the venue and is open during all events; offering a small selection of well-priced beer, wine, cider and weekly spirit specials.

Aeso Garden is the hidden courtyard to the rear of the studio. It is a comfortable outdoor space to have a drink, the bustling foyer for theatre productions, and on warm summer nights it becomes a performance venue in its own right.

Aeso Studio is run by two Melbourne arts and culture lovers, Pippa Bainbridge and Swiss Kalken. Pippa has a background as a visual and performing artist and has worked as an arts manager in iconic cultural institutions including La Mama, Express Media and Artrage. Swiss has a long history in music and is known for playing bass in Melbourne bands Bodies and Shit Tatts. Together they are working to create an arts space where everyone feels at home.
