In early 1937 the wife of the Boronia Postmaster, Mrs Duffield, held a meeting of fourteen women in her home to discuss the possibility of forming a CWA Branch in Boronia. As a result of this meeting, the inaugural meeting of the Boronia CWA Branch was held in the Boronia Progress Hall on Friday, 30th April. This meeting was chaired by the Group President and there were seventeen founding members. Mrs Duffield was elected as the first Branch President. In the early years meetings were held in either members’ homes or the supper room of the Progress Hall.

In April, 2012 the Boronia CWA Branch celebrated 75 years of service to the local community. Branch members meet twice monthly in the Boronia CWA Hall located at 4 Sun Dew Avenue, Boronia. On the second Wednesday of each month it has a general meeting and the fourth Monday of each month is its craft day.

Membership is open to women of all ages and interests. The Country Women's Association of Victoria is not only about craft and cooking, but also about social issues that affect local, national and overseas communities. Branch members all over Victoria serve their communties in various ways and each year these members travel to the Royal Melbourne Show to cater for show visitors at the CWA Cafeteria.
