Head Chef Benn Johnson will be at the helm of the kitchen. Benn began his cooking career 13 years ago, training under Harry Lilai at Cecconi’s at Crown Casino. He then moved on to Sous Chef at Vin Cellar in Prahran followed by the sister restaurant, The Argo in South Yarra. Two years later he left the Vin family, returning to Italian cookery as Sous Chef at Il Solito Posto. He then took up the challenge of cooking in London. Once there, he worked at the prestigious Scotts in Mayfair, followed by a stint at Gordon Ramsay’s Maze, and finally rounded off his two year UK experience by learning the British Gastro Pub trade at Princess Victoria, voted best new Gastro Pub in 2008. After some well earned time off spent traveling, Benn returned to Australia in 2009, bringing with him his new founded knowledge of Modern European cookery. Armed with all he has learnt in the past 13 years he has embarked on the next stage of his career as Head Chef at Marquee Restaurant Bar.

Marquee Restaurant Bar offers contemporary European cuisine, with a distinct French influence, while enjoying boutique wines, vodka’s and specialty cocktails. A premium wine list and seasonally driven specialties and delectable tasting plates add modern touches to a classic menu that focuses on premium products and produce.
